A bathroom for patient 'Activities of Daily Living' assessment and training. The ADL Bathroom provides for training of patients to use a domestic bath and toilet, dressing, undressing, grooming and handwashing. Training is also provided for carers including training for safe assisted transfers of a patient from a wheelchair or hoist to the bath, shower or toilet. Facilities include a bath of domestic height and width with an access gap underneath for hoist transfers installed in a corner of the room, a domestic toilet, a handbasin and a separate shower within the room. A low, height adjustable, hand held shower is required over the bath.
The room should be as domestic in style as possible. However, durable materials for heavy use and flexibility of fixtures to simulate various home environmnets will be needed to ensure the space can be utilised effectively.
Additional Design Requirements:
- The shower area must not have a raised hob.
- The entrance to the bathroom is to be flush with the adjoining corridor.
Additional Design Considerations:
- the basin may be height adjustable
- the toilet should have adequate circulation to allow access from either side but otherwise be domestic in type
Acoustics: Sound attenuation level - Medium. Acoustic privacy required.
