Staff working in surgical facilities are exposed to body fluids, contaminated instruments and other materials.
Change - Staff is provided for those who need to change into appropriate clothing (scrubs, uniforms, protective gowns) and store their street clothing.
Change - Staff should be divided into Male and Female areas on a proportional basis and include secure lockers, change space, showers, toilets, handbasins and staff only access isrequired.
Design considerations:
- Location of the Staff Change i.e. close proximity to Operating and Sterilising Units to minimise travel time
- Adequate lockers to suit staffing levels and operational policy
- Provision of individual change rooms or open change area
- Provision of accessible Staff Toilet to comply with workplace regulations
Acoustics: Sound attenuation level - medium; acoustic privacy required.
