Corridor widths must be sized to allow for the safe movement and passing of trolleys, beds, wheelchairs and other mobile equipment, 2450mm clear width is recommended for standard Corridors; increase to 2600 mm clear if write-up/ observation bays are located in Corridor. Provision should also be made where oversized, additional equipment is used, ie, bed extensions or bariatric beds.
Area (m2) included in HPU circulation which may be esitmated as a percentage added to the Net Briefed Area or measured off a plan.
1 x GPO-Cleaner should be provided per 10 metres or as per local authority requirements.
Corridor lighting, where patients are transported on trolleys, positioned to prevent unnecessary glare to patient eyes. Light fittings shall be recessed, flush fitting and sealed to prevent dust ingress.
