Description / Special Requirements The Mortuary - Autopsy Room is for undertaking post mortem examinations. An observation area is to be provided to at least one Autopsy Room within a department. Layout of tables and orientation of observation bay may be adjusted to suit the type of autopsy being performed (e.g. coronial or non-coronial). The Mortuary - Autopsy Room should be located with ready access to Mortuary - Body Holding. Additional Design Considerations: doors to be sealed for odours, post mortem table to have water flushing system. Appropriate Smoke/Heat detection to be considered. Additional Design Considerations - Auto doors to be provided - Doors to be sealed for odours - Post mortem table to have water flushing system - Dissection bench to be provided in accordance with relevant standards - Special airconditioning to be provided to remove odours - Negative pressure air conditioning/ non recirculating to be provided - High lux level ceiling lighting to be provided - Special grate at the door may be required to eliminate vermin spread - An observation area is may be required for observation or educational purposes Acoustics: Sound attenuation level - high; Acoustic privacy essential.
