Description / Special Requirements A secure room also known as the Computer Server room or Technology Equipment Centre to accommodate communications racks, servers, data storage devices, interface control panels for communication systems which may include patient entertainment systems, Nurse Call and Fire/EWIS system and voice/ data backbone cabling. The room may include a small workstation area for technicians to access and maintain equipment. Room temperature should be maintained for heat generating equipment. Equipment located in this room will require uninterruptible power. Special Design Requirements: - Computer equipment will require protection from power surges and spikes - Provision of an uninterruptible power supply is required for electronic health records servers and centralised storage to prevent data loss - The room should be sized to accommodate the equipment required including space for future growth - The room should be protected from fire, potential water damage, gas pipes and located away from sources of interference such as vibration, electromagnetic interference, radio and radar sytems, transformers, motors, heaters & X-ray equipment
