| Description / Special Requirements | Room for MRI scanning procedures, with adjacent control room and computer room. A staff handwashin basin will be located outside the room in close proximity. Fixtures and fittings to be non magnetic. Body Protected electrical area Acoutsics: acoustic privacy required for ambient noise emitted by scanning equipment Special Design Requirements: - The MRI suite shall be planned to conform to staged access and control zones complying with local authority requirements to prevent unscreened persons accessing the 5-gauass volume around the MRI scanner and to minimise radiofrequency interference from other equipment - Electromagnetic sheilding (radio frequency enclosure) as advised by RF Shielding Consultant - Structural assessment may be required to ensure the floor is designed to acommodate the weight of the equipment - Floor to ceiling cable duct with removable covers may be required - Underfloor cable trays between Control area and MRI table and floor to ceiling duct may be required - Warning lights outside each entry door - Power to be on emergency supply - all power to MRI to pass through MRI isolation transformer - Installation of the MRI including services requirements such as cryogen venting, emergency exhaust, passive pressure relief systems, shall conform to local authority requirements and manufacturer's specifications |
