| Description / Special Requirements | A Play Area is an area where children may play while waiting with parents and is associated with a Waiting area. The Play Area should allow access for prams. Public toilets and baby change facilities should be located nearby. The Play Area should be designed to be secure, minimise noise transfer and be observable from an adjacent Waiting Area. Additional Design Considerations: - The provision of an additional bay for the storage of prams may be required if service caters to a large number of infants. - The Play Area should be accessible by and suitable for children of various ages and levels of physical ability. If vastly different age groups are catered for, multiple play areas should be designed with suitable furniture and activities for different age groups. - Extra sound absorbtion may be required if located adjacent to patient treatment areas to reduce the noise transfer from play. - Clear visual access from waiting area and by staff from reception desk. |
